Board of Works Accepts $3 Million Bid for Sanitary Sewer Project on 5th Street
BEDFORD - JULY 19,2022 - The Beford Board of Works approved the bid from Mitchell & Stark of $3, 010,820 for a sanitary sewer project.

The project is being undertaken to install a new sanitary sewer line along 5th Street and along O Street and P Street from State Road 58 to John Williams Blvd.

During heavy rains, water from the storm water system overflows into the sanitary sewer system that is in need of repair. A 24-inch sanitary sewer line will be completely replaced.

In addition, to the installation of the sanitary sewer lines, the Lochmueller Group contract for inspection services was also approved during the meeting. An additional cost not to exceed $153,000. The total cost of this agreement is currently at $422,000

The Spider Creek Lift Station and Storage of Sanitary Sewer Project is esitmated at $17.4 Million
The Bedford Board of Works also approved design services, Construction Administration, and part-time inspection services for the Spider Lift Station project. The cost of the service to help prepare plans for grant funding is at $1,786,500. The total projected cost for the whole project is at $17. 4 million. The city is currently seeking grants to pay for this project.
" Our first grant application was denied, so we have applied for a grant from the Clean Water Act Grant funding to try and help us with this project," said Misty Adams Bedford Utilities Director.
