Bloomington Firefighters Battling House Fire on South Walnut Street Saturday Morning

BLOOMINGTON - JULY 23, 2022 - Bloomington firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in the 700 block of South Walnut Street.

The call came in reporting the blaze came in around 1:08 a.m. with an extra engine crew dispatched to the scene about 20 minutes later.

Currently Walnut Street is closed to traffic as firefighters work to get the fire under control.

An aerial truck is being used to help fight the fire, and power lines fell on the ground that hampered firefighter's efforts.

Duke Energy arrived to make sure the power has been shut off.

Bloomington Fire Department, Bloomington Police Department, and IU Lifeline Ambulance Service are on the scene. At this time, no injuries have been reported. The home appeared to be vacant and boards over some of the windows.
