Bids on New Bedford Police Station expected to be awarded Thursday

BEDFORD - NOVEMBER 1, 2022 - The bids for the new Bedford Police Station is expected to be award on Thursday during a special meeting of the Bedford Redevelopment Commission.


The meeting will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Stonegate Arts & Education Center located at 931 15th Street.

The Bedford Redevelopment Commission purchased the former Aldi's Building located at 2306 West 16th Street. The commission purchased the building for $825,000.


The new police station is 13,000 square feet which was built in 1991 and sits on more than 2 acres of land. The current police department is 7,000 square feet and detective offices upstairs are not handicap accessible.



The current police department located on K Street was built in 1908 and served as a fire department up to 1966.


The new building will allow for growth, expansion and address safety concerns.


The lowest bid for the project was submitted by Fox Construction Company 6931 South Old State Road 37, Bloomington, Indiana. this was one of three bids submitted to the Bedford RDC. Amount of $2,024,000 base bid.


The other bids submitted was from Building Associates, Bloomington, and T & G Contruction, Bedford Indiana.
