The project has taken longer than expected as the envirnomental studies, right of way issues, and design has caused delays. Utility coordination has also been really slow according to Flinn.

The Bedford Redevelopment Commission approved an additional $13,590 to GAI for consulting services on the project.

There have been an increase in costs due to those complications.
The envirnomental document was released on July 25, 2023 and is available for public viewing.
The orginal cost in 2019 for the project was estimated at $1.6 million, and the City of Bedford applying for grant funding on the project.
Phil O Toole requested the City of Bedford take action to improve the safety of motorists following a fatal cash at the intersection in early 2019.
The city decided against placing a stop light at the intersection, despite the lower cost of installation.
A stoplight would not have taken as long to install but the City of Bedford would have to take over the maintenance of the stoplight.
There are more than 13 stoplights maintained by the Indiana Department of Transportation in the City of Bedford and only one stoplight maintained by the city itself.
