Bedford Redevelopment Commission paid for the total cost for the new police station. No public safety funds or tax revenue from the city's general fund were used to fund the $3 million project.
The purchase of the former Aldi's building was $825,000. The RDC paid a total of $3,060 to the law firm Barnes & Thornburg to expand the EDA to proceed with the sale of the building.
Fox Construction Inc. was awarded the bid of $2,024,000 to construct the new facility.
A small thin line along 16th Street helped include the police station into the new EDA.
This allowed the city to use Tax Incremental Funds for the project instead of having to use revenues from the general fund or use bonds to fund the project.
The Bedford Redevelopment Commission consists of Mayor Sam Craig, president Penny May, Judy Carlisle, Craig Turpen, Ryan Griffith, and Shea Hooten.
