Bedford Recreation Foundation and Bedford Parks Department Partner bringing pickle ball to Wilson

BEDFORD - FEBRUARY 21, 2023 - The Bedford Recreation Foundation and Bedford Parks Department are partnering together to bring Pickle Ball to Wilson Park.

Bedford Parks Department Director Jimmy Jones announced that they are planning a six court Pickleball court at Wilson Park.

The Bedford Board of Works approved $10,000 towards the project after both the Bedford Recreation Foundation and Bedford Parks Department agreed to split the $105,000 cost between the two. " We are just about $10,000 short of the bid from Flynn & Sons bid on the project.

" We are pleased to be a part of this special project; we have supported many projects in the past with the City of Bedford. This is one of the more important projects that we are undertaking," said Tom Elliott, Bedford Recreation Foundation. " This is an excellent asset to Wilson Park and the city,"

" The Claude Akins Fundraiser has helped us do many different things for the Bedford Parks department, helping with the bathhouse and the training center. We want to make sure what we do counts, and we felt like with the popularity of pickle ball and the city not having a dedicated court. We have some fantastic parks and feel like Wilson Park will be utilized more," said Joe Elliott Bedford Recreation Foundation president.

Several users of the park system are pleased about the latest announcement from the Bedford Parks Department.
