Bedford Parks Department is Ready for the Spring Season

BEDFORD - (March 16, 2022) - Bedford Parks Department is ready for the spring season with several activities available for all ages.


Practice makes perfect - Taking advantage of the nice weather on Tuesday afternoon many took to Murray Forest Park Ball fields to practice their baseball and softball skills.


The Bedford Park Board met on Tuesday afternoon to take care of business for the upcoming Spring season.


There will be slight concession stand increases at Otis Park. Parks Director Jimmie Jones updated the board on several projects crews are working on.


Projects report:


  • Tree removal and stump grinding continues at Otis Golf Course

  • Tabled the Agape House Golf Tournament to clarify date and time of event

  • Fence replacement at Murray Forest Park is almost complete



The Otis Park Red Brick Project continues to move forward, an Open House will be held to celebrate the renovation. No timeline has been given when the project will be finished.

The father/daughter dance last Friday, was a success with special thanks to Clair Roub of Sound Sational DJ Services, Magic Morning Bakery, Kore Photography. A total of 430 tickets were sold for the event.


Programs and Presentations:


  • Otis Park Summer Junior Golf Camp, Leagues, and Tournament are now open for registrations.

  • Bedford Parks Department is accepting job applications for lifeguards and cashiers to work at the pool this summer. Must be 15 years of age to apply. You can complete application online at:

  • Square Dancing Lessons are available starting March 28, 2022. Will be held at Wilson Park Shelter House from 6:30 -8:30 p.m. Cost is $72 for a 12-person class. Contact Bedford Parks Department at 812-275-5692 or Janet Lewis at 812-498-0001 for any questions.

  • 2022 Spring Break Art Camp March 21- March 24 for ages 5- 18 will be held on Monday-Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cost is $20 a child. This will take place at the Thornton Memorial Park. Each day Art Projects, Snack/Drink, and Active Play. Art projects include Canvas art, Ceramics, wood and more.
