Bedford firefighters respond to fire at Monon Depot Sunday morning
BEDFORD - SEPTEMBER - 17, 2023 - Bedford firefighters responded to the Monon Depot 1221 J street around 3:00 am Sunday morning.

A large plume of black smoke could be seen billowing into the sky as firefighters arrived at the scene.

It took firefighters over an hour to bring the fire under control.

Firefighters stretched two supply lines from J Street from a fire hydrant near Mullis Petroleum and a third at 13th and J Street. Beddford Police blocked J Street off at Summit Lane while the firefighters fought the fire.

Duke Energy was called to the scene to disconnect power to the building.

At this time, Lawrence County Zephyr was not able to talk to fire officials at the scene, as firefighters were busy fighting the fire.

All three fire stations responded to the scene with Rescue 1, Tower1, Engine 2, and Engine 3 along with IU Lifeline Ambulance.
