Bedford firefighters and U.S. Forestry Service respond to garage fire Friday afternoon
BEDFORD - NOVEMBER 10, 2023 - Note: The Lawrence County Zephyr originally reported this as a house fire.
Bedford firefighters along with the U.S. Forestry Service responded to a garage fire on 25th Street Friday afternoon.

The fire reported around 2:00 pm and at the time of this report there was no injuries.

All three fire stations responded with the department's brush rig, ATV, extra fire crews from additional shifts along with the U.S. Forestry Service due to the garage's location near a wooded area.

Fire crews used leaf blowers to create a fire line to prevent spot fires from causing a wildland fire.
The wind helped carry embers in the air, and potentially spreading the fire.

Firefighters stretched a several hundred feet of supply line from a fire hydrant down a narrow 25th Street from H Street. Bedford Police and Bedford Street Department helped direct traffic and used traffic barriers for traffic control.
