Bedford Fire Captain Jeffery Armstrong Retires after 26 years of service

BEDFORD - MARCH 20, 2023 - Bedford Fire Chief John Hughes announced the retirement of Captain Jeffery Armstrong after 26 years of service to the Bedford Fire Department. Armstrong final shift was last Thursday and celebrated among his colleagues.

During the Board of Works meeting Fire Chief Hughes asked for the promotions of Lieutenant David R. Wright, to Captain, Senior Firefighter Brady J. Rhoda to Lieutenant, and Firefighter Class Dane N. Fountain to Senior Firefighter.


These promotions are probationary up to one year.


The following firefighter positions will be made permanent:


Lieutenant Justin Spires, Senior Firefighter Brady J. Rhoda, and Firefighter Second class Clayton A. Lumpe, " Spire is a true leader, Rhoda is growing into his role as he moves forward, and all three have proven themselves," said Fire Chief John Hughes of these new roles for these men.

The Bedford Fire Department is currently accepting applications to add a firefighter to its ranks.
