BEDFORD - DECEMBER 19, 2022 - Upon on the recommendation of Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore, the Bedford City Council passed an ordinance on parking in the same direction of traffic.
Using the Indiana Code 9-21-16-7 for parking in the same direction would have been an $135.50 fine, however the fine would only be $10 based on the new city ordinance. The Bedford City Council who normally allows the public to comment went ahead and passed the motion.
Chief Moore says he has been receiving complaints regarding both issues.
The Bedford City Council passed up to the second passage of an ordinance of prohibiting parking on the city sidewalks. There was no ordinance on the books for either same direction parking or parking on the sidewalks. The measure on prohibiting parking on the sidewalks is expected to be passed at the next city council meeting.
