Bedford City Council Approves Zoning Change for former Broadview Bowling Alley Property

BEDFORD - MARCH 20, 2023 - The Bedford City Council approved a zoning change for the property the former Broadview Bowling Alley sits on 29th Street.

Josh Lewis requesting a zoning change from B-1 to Light Industrial to clear the way for storage units to be built on the property.

Brandon Woodward Bedford Planning Director requested that the measure be passed during Monday's night's council meeting with the third and final passage.

" This building is quite dangerous with people entering the building, and the roofs has several holes in it, and it is becoming a health and safety issue quickly," said Woodward.

The building will be demolished and make way for the first set of six storage units. The Bedford Planning Commission is requiring a fence be erected on the west and north side of the property.

Neighbors have supported this project to improve the neighborhood from the eyesore, with the building setting empty for several years.
