Bedford Board of Works to accept retirement of Bedford fire chief Hughes

BEDFORD - AUGUST 7, 2023 - The Bedford Board of Works will meet on Wednesday August 9th at noon to accept the retirement of Bedford fire Chief John Hughes.

The meeting will take place at the Stonegate Arts and Education Building.

This will make the second fire Chief to retire in three years. Chief Hughes replaced Dewayne Turpin who resigned on February 7, 2020.

Chief Hughes has served more than 32 years on the Bedford fire Department.
