Adam Higgins Sworn in as the Newest Bedford Firefighter
BEDFORD - JUNE 21, 2022 - Bedford Mayor Sam Craig had the honor of swearing in Adam Higgins as the newest firefighter for the City of Bedford.

Adam Higgins is sworn in as the newest Bedford firefighter on Tuesday afternoon
Higgins is 2012 Graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School and was working at CrossRoads Trucking in Bedford at the time of his appointment.
" This job is something everybody dreams about doing. I just got lucky," said Higgins. Bedford Fire Chief John Hughes chimed in " No we are lucky to have you,"

Higgins brought his wife Jaymee and his three children Annabeth, Anderson, and Jeb to the swearing in ceremony. " We are glad you let us have him," said Mayor Craig who spoke to his wife and children, as they was introduced to the room of onlookers who clapped and congratulated him on his new career.
Currently, Higgs is still in training and learning the techniques of firefighting. " Training is something we do everyday," said Fire Chief Hughes.

In other personnel moves the Board of Works took action for the fire and police departments include the following.
Bradley Cummings retired after 20 years and 1 day of service to the City of Bedford.
With the retirement of Cummings the following promotions were approved; Shane Nolan Lieutenant, Firefighter 1st Class Toby J. Tincher to Senior Firefighter and approved the hiring of Ethan Lipscomb
Approved the acceptance of Taylor Daughtery as the newest police officer for the Bedford Police Department. This came following the resignations of couple of police officers.
