6-1 Vote to Hire Compass Keynote Consulting To Lead Facility Study

BEDFORD - (December 16, 2021) - The North Lawrence Community School board voted 6-1 with Wendy Miller rejecting to hire Compass- Keynote Consulting for a Facility Improvement Study.


According to NLCS press release following Thursday nights school board meeting Dr. Halik is the president and founder of Compass-Keynote Consulting with experience in multiple principals and superintendent roles as well as adjunct professor positions for local Indiana colleges and universities. Dr. Halik serves over 200 of the states 291 school systems with his consulting firm, providing developmental guidance and facilitation of strategic plans and facility assessments. In a 4-3 vote the board approved a Guaranteed Energy Savings Project at Bedford North Lawrence High School and North Lawrenc Career Center. The project is not to exceed $4.7 Million. Part of the ERSA I and II grant and bonds approved earlier last year, will be used towards the project. According to Dr. Ty Mungle 20 percent of the funds will also go towards students.


Dr. Wendy Miller questioned on whether some of the funds could be used for teacher pay, with Dr. Ty Mungle asserting that is what the 20 percent of the funds will be used for student learning but not teacher pay.


The project will include HVAC improvements at the BNLHS, and LED lighting at the North Lawrence Career Center.
