180 Attend 2022 Williams Covered Bridge Dinner

WILLIAMS - SEPTEMBER 10, 2022 - The 2022 Williams Covered Bridge Dinner sponsored by the Lawrence County Tourism and Williams Community Association had 180 guests attend this year's event.





" This year's event sold out quickly, we had to turn people away," said Tonya Chastain Lawrence County Tourism Director. Chastain said guests started arriving around 3:30 p.m. Saturday evening and were excited about attending this event.


This is the fourth year of the Williams Covered Bridge Dinner with the event keeps growing in popularity.




The pledge of allegiance was led by Dane Redman, for the event.



Following the dinner Tracy Crowther, Plant Manager, Lehigh - Hanson gave the guests an update on the plant's construction project. (See related story).


There were several door prizes given out at the conclusion of the event. There were several organizations and individuals who helped with this special occasion.


Larry Root and Wally Branham used their golf carts to help transport people to their cars, Bedford Parks Department and Living Well provided buses to transport attendees from the William Dam to the covered bridge. There were many more who helped make the event a sucess.



In addition, Fayetteville Lions Club help serve the food, and Bedford Lions Club provided tables and chairs to the event.



Lawrence County Tourism is organizing a Friends of the Williams Covered Bridge Group to help with the safety and protection of the bridge. This is not a fundraiser, but a group that will work to preserve the bridge, like installing cameras to prevent vandalism to the bridge.





The tradition of the dinner will continue on for the next year, as this continues to be a favorite of Lawrence County residents.
